Exhibition and Oral History Project Officer
Salary £28,000 per annum full time, pro rata
6 months’ full time appointment (0.75 f/t appointment considered)
Are you passionate about justice, equality and ‘Black Lives Matter’ themes? Do you have knowledge of organising museum and/or faith exhibitions and experience of co- ordinating and presenting oral history projects? We’d love to hear from you!
Wesley’s Chapel and the Museum of Methodism are looking for an experienced and skilled exhibition and oral history project officer. Your task will be to deliver on time and to budget a major Methodist history exhibition and an oral history project.
‘Leadership on a Journey’: A Celebration of the Contribution of black, Asian and minority ethnic Methodists to the Life of the Church’, will seek to inspire reflection on how leadership of black, Asian and minority ethnic Methodists has helped to shape the Church, and how this leadership may be nurtured today. Longer term, the projects associated with the display will help resource the evangelism and faith journeys of British Methodists, and help represent the rich diversity of Methodist life and action for all church and museum visitors.
The exhibition and associated projects will run in stages from 5th September 2021, through Black History month (October) and into 2022. Shaping the content and delivery of the individual elements in consultation with the project team will provide an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to show imagination, flair and develop skills.
As an inclusive organisation, applications from people of all backgrounds are welcome and encouraged. The appointment requires sympathy for the general goals and ethos of the Methodist Church. Knowledge of Methodism and working with places of worship would be an advantage but is not essential. Part-time appointments will be considered.
For an informal discussion about the role and/or an application pack, please contact, Wesley’s Chapel, 49 City Road, London EC1Y 1AU, 0207 253 2262, or go to bit.ly/LoJProjectWorker
